D(A/V)ID gave a great answer.

I second that you should look at SVS or HSU for the subwoofer.

The Receiver and outboard amp is a bit of a waste.

Polk vs Klipsch - I tend to like Polk better, but its kind of like ice-cream flavors. Just because I prefer Polk does not mean the better Klipsch speakers are bad... just different. Both are good choices.

Personally - for games and movies you are over-buying on the speakers. There are 2 reasons for this:

- You are buying a dedicated sub so the woofers in the left/right speakers will likely cause problems instead of helping. You want a single source of bass in the room and a nice SVS sub near a corner is way superior to the poorly placed left/right speaker positions.

- Movie soundtracks really do not need music-caliber speakers. The material is very sparse compared to a music and its an easier task to handle movie sounds than music sounds.

If you are going with a dedicated sub - go with the smaller monitor-style speakers from either Polk or Klipsch. It will be cheaper, easier to place and save you some money. It will also give you a superior sounding system.

Dont let the idea that you are getting a "deal" sway you into buying tower speakers. Take a favorite CD and audition for yourself.
References :
- The RF63 system is truly fantastic. Klipsch is fantastic for home theater. The horn loaded tweeters and high efficiency design lend very well to movie soundtracks and dynamic effects. You could step down a notch in Klipsch and go with the RF-82 or RB-81 system that will reduce the price tag and still be much better than the Polk speakers you listed. Polk isn't what they used to be and have become very commercialized and profit oriented. The Polk speakers you mention aren't bad...they are just not as good as the RF63 or RF82 package.

- Ditch the VSX-23 and go with Emotiva's preprocessor (UMC-1). You'll save money and the end result will be the same if not better. If you bought the XPA-5 then all you need is a prepro and the Pioneer Elite's amps would not be used.

- Klipsch subs are over priced. Check out http://www.svsound.com or http://www.hsuresearch.com (both provide much better bang for the buck). Velodyne is good, but SVS is much better and better priced.
