Home Theater speakers - $400 - which ones?

I am looking for home theater speaks ($400 for both or $200 each) and i am kind of stumped. I know there is no "best" speaker out there, but what does everyone recommend? don’t tell me bose please because those are a POS for this price range. i am willing to spend a LITTLE bit more, but not much. I have an HK reciever and a Velodyne sub, if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Those are floorstanding towers, in case you are looking for something smaller the C-200 bookshelf speakers are on sale for 150.
