What’s the best wires for a 800 sub woofer?

Recently, my old wires burned out. The sub-woofer didn’t even sound good at all due to the wires, didn’t powerup enough..

Anyone know good wires for a 800 sub woofer connected to a 1,000 watt amp.

I’m budget is low, atm. But, i cna purchase it. Also somewhere i can find at Radio Shack, Walmart, target, ect.

dude just go buy some good 10 or 12 ga. speaker wire and you should be fine.

If your talking about amp power wire you need at least 4ga.

  1. What were you using, phone wire? 800 watts isn’t really all that much. I’ve seen people use 16 gauge wire for more power, but I wouldn’t recommend that. For 800 watts 12 gauge should be more than enough. If you can afford 10 gauge it wouldn’t hurt. Using a wire too big will never cause problems, but you already know that using too small of a wire can lead to meltdown.

Also you want to make sure the wires INSIDE the subwoofer box are at least as big as the wires going to the amp. You can run 8 gauge wire from the box to the amp, but if it’s only using 20 gauge wire inside the box, it’ll still sound like crap, and probably end up burning up the wires inside.

I used to use 10 gauge wire myself when I did competitions several years ago running 1600+ watts to my pair of JLAudio 10w3d6’s, and took a 1st place trophy at a dB Drag event.
