what size box do i need for my 12 inch sub woofer?
i had a ten inch sub woofer in a kicker box but the 10 inch speaker blew.so i bought a 12 inch speaker but i was told by a friend that my box wasn’t big enough for that size speaker,is he right,do i need a bigger box?what size of a box do i need?some dimensions would be great.and should the box be vented or not?
Yes he is right
Consult with the manufacturer or retailer of the subwoofer speakers you have purchased to determine the proper dimensions of the enclosure. Make sure you account for the thickness of the particle board (3/4")
Vented or sealed is up to you
Vented [ also called ported ] can get louder at the tuned frequency. Bonus of sealed is you get a smaller box.
