What dimensions should my box be with a 12 inch sub-woofer in it?
I currently have a factory made box that when i received it had a 10 inch sub-woofer in it jw if i need to make any changes to the box. p.s. the box doesn’t have an air hole idk y?
You should look up the specific needs of the sub you have, but usually 12" subs need about 1 or 1.5 cubic feet of volume. (volume= length x width x height) Chances are the box for the 10 isn’t big enough, but it may be. Plus, the hole that you actually mount the sub in has to be big enough, and unless you cut out the hole more, the 10" sub box won’t be big enough.
And all sub boxes don’t have ports ("air holes"), the ones with are called ported boxes, the ones without are called sealed boxes. They just give different types of sound.
the thicker the box the better it sounds. you should get one that has a hole.
