How do you know that a sub-woofer is airtight.?

I made my own sub box and I placed the subwoofer in the box and sealed the box but I don’t know that my box is airtight. What happens is when I push the woofer down it takes about 2-4 secondes to restart it’s position. How do I know my box is airtight.

in terms of what you’re going to hear, being truly "air tight" is not critical. You just don’t want massive leaks at every joint. As a bit if insurance it is common practice to run a bead of caulk along all the interior joints to prevent any leaks so you might try that.
I even do it with ported boxes.

  2. usaully fresher, newer sub woofers will do that until broken in! airtight..meaning a sealed box right? itll hit ok…more on the clear, straight, BOOM note….instead of the louder BOOM with echo, and trunk rattle you get from vented or ported box (box with a air whole)!! LOL
