Does it take a lot of electricity to keep my sub woofer on?

i have a 5 speaker set home theater system and i don't have a remote for my sub woofer. Does it take a lot of electricity to just leave it on when there is no sound?

Probably not a lot of electricity, and it may have an auto off feature.

I don't think it shortens the life - it may actually lengthen the life because with some equipment, the worst stress comes from switching it off and on. My recording engineer friend says they never turn off their equipment, and they feel that this is the way to keep it from needing repairs…

I don't know about electricity, but it will greatly shorten the life of it if you leave it on… find the remote!

Depends. Many subwoofers turn themselves off after a period of time with no signal. Mine does. Check your manual.

Hi.If the amp in your sub is left on it would only use as much electricity as a radio that is on from the ac supply.Or your TV going all day .Some amps are made to be left on all the time so they are always warmed up to perform better .At least that's what happens "Down Under" where i live when i use my equipment.
