MDF IS CHEAP. 92SqInch or w/e for like 28 bucks at home depot, it will do like 3 or 4 single box’s. I used one sheet to build 3 12″ boxes. So you cant say it ain’t cheap. Trying to convince my friend to buy a sheet and let me build 3, 1 for his car and 2 for him to sell to make MORE than what he spent on it in the first place.

mdf is very cheap…………………………i got like a 5′ x 8′ for $38 i built a box for 2 10″ subs and i had enough left over for a second box i didnt use any instructions all i knew was that each sub needed .75 cubic feet. If you cant afford that then you dont need to be buying $175 subwoofers

sealed enclosures are just as good as ported enclosures, some subwoofers are not designed for ported and wont sound right on a ported and could get damaged. now the enclosure volume, the enclosure tuning frequency, enclosure build quality, where is the enclosure going to be installed in, these are all things that play an important part of the enclosure design and how the subwoofer is going to sound/perform. also vibrations created by the subwoofer it self have nothing to do to how it sounds.

the bass you really …
the bass you really feel is anywhere around 28 hertz.. thats the low stuff that shakes everything… as the tone reaches higher frequences its more of a hearing thing rather than feeling it. and i disagree that most bass is felt not heard.. that is an uncertain statement since not everybody listens to the same type of music, or same bass. i like low bass, so yes ill feel it more, still hear it though, thats why it hurts. hah..

Most of the bass in songs is fealt and not heard. This is why if you use tiny computer speakers they have to use an algorithm to fake the bass. Ever heard of “super bass!” or whatever on CD players? This is a way of faking the bass. A good subwoofer won’t “lie” to you that way, and moving air will dilute its ability to transfer vibrations (bass) to the ground.

you can always convert a computer power supply to power your car audio amplifier, but you can most likely find a nice home audio amplifier for the price of both the car amplifier and the converted computer power supply and will most of the time look better in your living room.
