What kind of car speakers and car audio system should i get?

I am planning to re-do my new car’s audio system. Currently it sucks! It has two speakers and a tape player. I want to put in a good sound system with about four speakers and a car audio mp3 player with a thing to play off ipods and so forth. What should I get, im thinking around the 75-100w ? and I am particularly interested in what kind of car audio I should get JVC? Kenwood? A specific model would be good! any suggestions much appreciated.

For every people who listen primarily to MP3/WMA/AAC audio, the Alpine iDA-X305 offers one of the easiest-to-use interfaces for in-car .instead implementing USB inputs and iPod connections.and many more on autoinfoz.

What is the process to upgrade from 100 amps to 200 amp service?

We’re remodeling our kitchen and have run out of available circuit slots. We thought about adding a subpanel or possibly replacing our main panel with one with more circuits. The other option is to go ahead and get upgraded service with a big panel.

We are wondering what the approximate price is (in the Minneapolis, MN area) of upgrading to 200 amps? And what does that include? Thanks!

In my area, MO., my electrician charges around $700.00 to up grade. This covers pulling a permit to completion.
Good planning should make this a one day job, as well it should be, to keep things like food from going bad in your fridge among other sensitive electrical related issues.

Do audio video repair places still re-cone stereo loudspeakers?

I have a pair of Ohm L stereo speakers. The speakers were manufactured in 1978. With age the woofers cones deteriorated. Can they be re-coned at a affordable price. The woofers are not blown it’s just the cone surface has corroded over the years and needs to be refinished. The tweeters are fine. They are 100 watt speakers.
I was thinking of getting a cheap pair of stereo speakers as a second set until I can repair the set I have now.
What are your thoughts?

I am an audio engineer and I can tell you that you can absolutely replace just about anything in a speaker. The real question is how much are you willing to pay and are the cones the only problem with the speaker. If you find a good place to do it for you and want them done, most A/V folks have extra parts they could possibly use.

After I upgraded to windows 7 my sub woofer did not work anymore. I am on a hp pavilion dv6-1230 us?

After I upgraded to windows 7 my sub woofer did not work anymore. I am on a hp pavilion dv6-1230 us. I have upgraded the drivers and that still didn’t work. Is there a possibility that I blew them? How could I repair them myself without sending it into hp? Thanks

did it ever work on windows 7?

if not there is a good chance you need to install the audio drivers for your sound card and or switch it to the right amount of channels. Also, if its a 5.1 speaker system does your center speaker work. If it doesnt this is another sign you need the drivers.

What are good quality speakers to get for cars?

I’m looking to improve my cavalier audio system, and I want to replace the 4 speakers that are already in there, ad 2 tweeters and 2 subs, however I was wondering what are some good speakers to buy? Also, if I get all this, how do I power everything? Having all those speakers would drain my car battery too quickly wouldn’t they?
Also remember, before anyone says anything about me wanting to put quality parts into my cavalier, everyone likes their own things, so don’t comment with negativity towards them please.

Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, JL, Rockford Fosgate, and kicker all make great products. The first three listed are usually the cheapest, but do the job well. They would do you good for door speakers and tweeters. If you get speakers more powerful than about 22w rms, you might consider getting a 4ch amp to power them efficiently.

As far as subs go, do you want to just add a little bass, shake your car violently, or break your neighbor’s windows across the street? lol.

For a little bass I say get a bass tube. Compact, perfectly matched up with an enclosure, perfectly matched to an amp, easily wired, and quite cheap. This one happens to be refurbished. New or refurbished from these guys doesn’t really matter. I believe you get a nice warranty either way. Look into it!

Don’t get Bazooka…bad reviews.

Middle amount of bass?
Get two Pioneer Champion series subs or alpine type r’s
I’d power them with an AQ1200 amp seen here…

I own this setup and it works great!

Shattering windows?
Get JL or Kicker…but I don’t think thats what you are looking for.

If you get a BIG sound system, get a yellowtop optima battery. Otherwise, 4 speakers and a 1200w amp won’t kill your car battery, trust me…look below at what I’m running in my car… I have my stock style battery and my headlights don’t even dim. lol. Well, I do have a 500k farad cap too, but that doesn’t do much I don’t think.

^_^ Hope this helps!

How do you connect a ps2 to a car dvd player?

I am going on a trip in my familys holden captiva which has a portable dvd player inbuilt and i was wondering how to connect my ps2 to the portable dvd player. I have heard that you need a power inverter that goes into the lighter, is this correct. And also what cords do you need to plug it into the actual dvd player? Thx if you could help.

That’s just plain lazy parenting. depending on your kids ages plan stops at intervals so the kids can get out, play and stretch. that’s better for them and for you.

I would like to add that this is what my family and from come some of my favorite trip memories. take the chance to really bond and have some fun as a family on the way to your destination not just once your there. your trip starts when you leave home not when you get to your destination

How do you connect new speakers in a 1994 Chevy Astro van?

I bought a couple new speakers to install in the dash of my Astro van. I removed one of the old AC Delco speakers, but I do not know how to connect my new speaker to the plug in (runs the wires to the radio). On my new speakers, I simply have a + and - wire, but I need to plug this into the jack that the old speaker was connected to. Do I need to buy this connector for my new speakers? Anyone ever changed their speakers in an old Astro Van?

clip the connector and strip the wires. use wire nuts or electrical tape to secure them

Are there car DVD players with GPS available?

My boyfriend wants both so I was hoping to get both in one so he doesn’t have to have two seperate units in his car? If so, what are good brands?

There are many GPS units that are also a DVD player, or I should say, there are many in-dash DVD players that have GPS functionality. Be careful though, because in this case the result is truly greater than the sum of its parts, but in price! You could find a dvd player for relatively cheap, and standalone GVS units are becoming very inexpensive these days: ~$200 for a decent unit. So be sure to not only look at your options for dual DVD/GPS, but also look at them separately to see if it’s worth putting up with two units to save a lot of money.

That said, here are a couple good units.

Pioneer AVICD3
Sanyo NV-E7000

These two just sort of caught my eye as having reasonable features for a very good price. However you will have to look at more units and weigh what features are important to you versus how much you want to spend.

Here are a couple good pages to compare many products:

Amazon
Nextag

I hope you find something that works for you.

How do I add external speakers to a computer with integrated speakers?

My internal speakers on my computer arent’s loud enough and I want to buy better speakers?

so buy better speakers, locate the audio out jack on your computer (usually a small green port on the back, some have one on the front aswell) and plug it in, if you get active speakers, which are louder, youll need to plug them into the wall too. Once you plug it in your audio software will detect this and turn off the integrated speakers in favor of your new ones.
