How to connect a laptop computer with old loudspeakers?

The loudspekers only have ‘loose end’-cables (that is, no rca cables). My sound card is quite basic. What would be the cheapest way to solve this?

It would be easy enough to strip some RCA plugs and just twist the wires together. Be sure to get the polarity correct (Match the colors).

  2. Don’t do what hugh said or you will kill your soundcard…you will need a stereo receiver with a line in….just get a 2.5 mm jack (Earphone jack) to an RCA jack, connect it to your laptop and connect your speakers to the receiver/amplifier…

  3. Those loud speakers seem to require an amplifier. You won’t get to hear any sound coming from it by simply hooking them directly to your laptop. You need an amplifier to make it work.
