What is a good Car DVD Player for a rear-facing child?

We have a long 6 hour drive coming up next month and my 5 month old son hates his carseat. I have a feeling the only thing that is going to keep him happy during the trip is if we get a DVD Player for the car and stock up on Baby Einstein videos. He doesn’t watch TV otherwise so hopefully it will be unusual and entertaining enough to keep him happy! Anyone know of a good model that can be used with a rear-facing carseat? Thanks!

pretty much any DVD player will work, although I don’t approve of using a DVD to keep a child that young entertained in the car. I’m assuming your rear seats have head rests- try finding one with the velcro straps that are designed to attach to a headrest.

Are car DVD players good for kids?

We take our kids for a 2 hour drive from each set of grandparents and the journeys to visit had become a nightmare. He either worked himself up so much he was sick out of frustration and boredom, or he fell asleep and his (very delicate) routine was thrown out completely. The DVD player has been a godsend. As he doesn’t watch TV at home and doesn’t understand the principle of putting the DVD in it means he doesn’t ask for it at all while we are at home, as far as he’s concerned it’s only in the car!

Are DVD players included in car rentals? How do you get the best deals?

We’re planning a trip to Disneyworld this year, but have decided to rent a minivan instead of flying. We have two young children. One is will turn 5 on the trip, and the other will be 1 1/2. We’re looking for a car rental place that has DVD players in their minivans, and also the best deals. How do you know when you’re getting the best deal?

I don’t think any car rental company will guarantee you a van with a dvd player. Are you getting the minivan from an airport location or one near your house? If it is near your house contact them and see if they can get you one and keep it for you.

how to take the penny i dropped in the car upright dvd player?

the car was actually a lexus GX470 which have an upright dvd player on the center console. lexus is charging $400 just to take it out. there are no screws to undo. ive tried using a vacuum to suck it out but no luck. please suggest any possible result.

I’d suggest taking the player out yourself and turning it upside down. It will most likely fall out then.

A pair of tweezers might make their way into the slot. Try slim line ones.

The straw or hose on the end of your vacuum is also a good idea. Yu should use duct tape or something similar to attach the straw or hose. Make sure you have all of the suction running through the hose or straw or it likely will not work.

Another option would be to try a local car stereo shop. They will probably charge allot less then the Lexus dealer.

How do I bypass the warning on my car dvd player?

I bought a 2007 charger and I got my 2 year old son one of them jensen vm9312HD car dvd players and it wont play while the car is in motion. Can anyone help me to figure this out r tell me where to go for help? Thanks a million!

I had this same problem, if it plays when its parked then it has a little safety feature that involves a wire, maybe pink in color for your headunit that will only allow it to play when parked. Now if you splice it into the red or yellow, I’d choose red since its not constant, it will play movies anytime.

If it won’t play them even when parked then it is not hooked up to a wire or its hooked up to ground and therefor should be hooked to a positive wire, red or yellow. If you didn’t put it in yourself then you can take it to an audio shop, maybe check in phonebook for someone local.

But the easy way would be to use a bypass code since there is ojne for your hu. I copy these instructions from ecoustics.com

http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/…

The parking brake bypass procedure is as follows:

1: Go into AM/FM mode
2: Hit "setup" on the remote control
3: Enter 543210 on the remote, listening for the beep for each number entered
4: A new menu will appear. Touch the button that has the hammer/screwdriver on it in the upper left-hand part of the screen.
5: Select Brake bypass to "ON" and hit the "X" near the bottom of the screen.
6: Use the unit wisely and above all safely. A ticket is one thing, causing a fatal accident due to negligence is another.

I don’t know if it really works but you could try it, if not use the wiring method above.

Is there any security codes for car dvd players just by serial no. for free?

You will not be able to get the security code by any means. Only a dealer can do that and you will have to show proof that you own both the vehicle and the unit before they will provide the code. Too much theft out there.

In car dvd players help?

Hi Im looking to purchase an In car DVD player for the kids in the car as next year we are going on abroad but travelling by car for some time. My girls will be 11 and 9. They each have a D.S lite to keep them entertained on the journey or any journey’s for that matter! I also have a 10 week old son who will be approximatly 9 months when we go away. Im looking to get an in car dvd but Im unsure if to get 2 screens and 1 conector or 2 seperate dvds. My girls hardly squabble on what to watch so they would watch the same dvd if I had 2 screens one conector but Im wondering if its best to get 2 seperate ones so that my son can "watch" whats on one dvd while my daughters watch the other. I have enough powering points in my car to have 5 different conectors in total.

What would you choose?

Thanks for your answer.

2. That way everyone wins, your son can watch what he wants, and your girls can watch what they want!

Can portable DVD players really take the temperature extremes of car use?

They sell lots of portable DVD players with straps for hooking to the back of carseats - but can these players really handle car interior temperatures.

In the winter, temperatures could be subzero, would the LCD freeze?
In the summer, with the sun beating on the car, the temperature could be 150 degrees f. Would anything melt?

Are these things really designed to take that?

They are not much different then anything in your dash, but to be safe i remove mine. I have left them in at both extremes and they work fine but i usually remove them for safekeeping.

Where to buy a cheap Car DVD player?

I’d like to take a new car dvd player for my 2008 Toyota Corolla GLS 1.8L Speed, and won’t cost a fortune. Could you tell me the good ones? And where should I get it?

This will sound silly, but go to your local Walmart. They sell some low cost units by Pioneer, JVC, and Sony. All are good quality and reasonable priced. I have had my JVC for almost 10 years and through 3 different trucks with no problems. It came from Wally World.
