Acoupower
What is involved in car audio? im brand new to audio and i want to put a new system in my car.?
So what do i need exactly, Please run it through Dummy Style, b/c when it comes to car audio i am just that, a dummy!
if it matters i have a 2006 Ford Taurus
Thanks!
radio- the brain of it all. dont skimp here, i recommend a kenwood excelon.
subs- the lows. what to go with here would depend if you want clean sound or retardedly high amounts of bass.
speakers- the mids and highs. stock speakers usually sound like crap, aftermarket makes a huge difference. if you can afford it go with a component set in front(separate tweeter and mid). go with normal 2way/3way(tweeter and mid are attached) in the rear.
amp- the muscle. this is what powers your subs, and if you have the money your speakers. a mono class d amp is best for subs. a 4channel is good for front and rear speakers. or you can find a good 5channel, it powers both the speakers and the sub in 1 amp to save space.
that covers the main parts. you also have things like the wires and things like that.

How can I learn about car audio and speakers?
I really want to know about car audio and how it all works. I want to know what ohms, headunit functions, rms and everything means. I would like to be able to know what will work in a car audio system without having to ask. Where or how can I learn this stuff? Any books or what?
Go to www.carstereo.com It is a very informative site with in-depth articles and diagrams.
You should also join the following car audio forums:

What is the best way to disguise a (car audio) subwoofer?
I want to avoid theft and hide my car audio system. I am using the factory CD player and have mounted the amp and capacitor under the seats, but the sub won’t fit anywhere but in the back. How should I "disguise" my subwoofer in the back? I was thinking about throwing a blanket over it but I don’t think that will be enough. Also, would I lose any sound quality if I just threw a blanket over it? It’s a single 12" pioneer shallow subwoofer. Thank you!
people are going to hear you driving with the sub so they will know that you have something in the back. so might as well put it facing the rear and enjoy.

Could someone give me a basic intro into car audio setup?
I’m looking at swapping out my car’s factory audio system and starting from scratch- but I have no clue as to what components are needed and how to set them up. What I would like is a crash course in car audio, and suggestions for good speakers, wires etc- I have a little electronics background so I shouldn’t have any problem understanding any wiring/electrical issues. I’d like a more acoustic setup if possible.
Normally, I’d let a professional deal with setting things up, but I’ve been wanting to get into audio systems, and this would be a great start for me. I greatly appreciate any help or instructions.
You should got to Crutchfields web page.
It will tell you what radio fits your car without modification.
What tools U will need plus detailed instructions.
Most importantly get a wiring adapter that allows you to connect the new radio to the existing wiring harness. Good Luck!

How do i get a job installing car audio?
Hi,
Could you please tell me how i could get a job in installing car audio, security and GPS systems?Do you need some sort of qualification from tafe?at the moment,i’m a 1st year apprentice sparky(electrician). Is that good enough?
Get MECP certified first either via a 12 installation school or just get the book. More info from here… http://www.mecp.com/home.asp . This site will tell you everything you need to know, watch the vid on the homepage. This might get you in the door and some places, alot of places are looking for experience too, so if you’re working on friends cars or your own cars, take pics.

How much does it cost to change out my car audio?
I am wondering how much in would cost to transfer my subs and amp from one car to another the new car doesn’t have a deck and i can’t put one in it i heard there is a button you can buy and have a car audio place install it to tuurn the subs on and off please help
It’s not just a button that you need. You need a Line Output Converter (LOC).
You can purchase it yourself but most likely the audio shop that you take the vehicles to make the transfer will have one in stock. I’d call around. Installation can vary from area to area. A standard amp install at Best Buy is $69.99. Of course this will not include "uninstalling" it from the first vehicle. And you’ll also need a new amp wiring kit. Most installers won’t try to remove and reuse wires. I’d estimate about $125 total providing you do the removal and probably $200 or so if they do it all.

I want to know what is the best subwoofer on the market for car audio?
would it be a wl7,kicker,mtx which is what i have, the reason why i am askin this is because i want to have the best audio for my car.
If you want the best I would go with the Quad voice coil Audiobahn Immortal series.
The Audiobahn IMMORTAL Series subwoofers are designed for the competition environment. Their quad 2 ohm voice coils can handle up to 2250 watts rms and up to 4500 watts max. They feature design elements like 200 oz. triple-stacked Strontium magnets, proprietary tall excursion foam surrounds, and 25mm top plates, all ensuring maximum cone excursion and subwoofer efficiency. The Audiobahn IMMORTAL series subwoofers combine all of these advanced subwoofer qualities into an ultra-durable, cosmetically-appealing, chromed 3-dimensional die cast aluminum basket that adds an edgy appeal to any installation.
