What base life like? Can you have a car, play video games, leave for the weekend?

I was going to join the Marine Corps as a reservists but now Im thinking of going active. Whats base life like? Are there bars, girls, work out facility, good food, play video games and the two big ones for me Can I have a car or even two and can I leave base on my time off

Bars - yes, girls - yes, work out facility - yes, good food - yes, video games - yes, cars - yes and leave base - yes. Maybe not at the same time and certainly not in Recruit Training, but eventually, yes.

  2. Yes to everything. Keep in mind that there will be certain periods of time that you won’t be able to do whatever you want. For the most part, after basic, life is like being on the outside, without all the douchebags. Well there are douchebags where ever you go, just less in the military. Respect for yourself and respect for authority aren’t taken lightly and therefore you become a better person all around. Congrats and Good Luck

  3. depends on your MOS ,you can have a normal workdays and weekends if you got a chill back MOS, but there is MOS’s that youll spend weeks or months in the field but also you get alot of downtime that makes you hate life .

yes usually Bases are homing beacons for Bars, stripclubs, cardealers trying to rip young naive Marines off

  4. Whats base life like? My duty station is camp lejeune and it sucks. Could be worst, 29 palms is supposed to be the worst one.

Are there bars? Yes out in town
Girls? Yes out in town but mostly are either marine girlfriends, marine daughters, marine wifes, random whorebags in amilitary town. Again this is based on a marine stationed at lejeune.
Good food? chow hall food is not good, is like cafeteria food. Theres also fast food joints on base. Good food is out in town.
Play videogames? Yes you can in your room if you got nothing else to do.
Can you have a car? Once youre in your duty station yes you can.
Can you leave base? Yes during off work hours you can go anywhere. They have limits on how far away can you go (150 miles on a weekend, 300 on a 72, 450 on a 96) but as long as u dont get in trouble you can go anywhere

    Im an 03 MOS

  5. You get paid plenty in the military, but not enough to be buying a car, unless it is used. Certainly not two cars. Remember, you have to pay for insurance and gas and car payment, title, and taxes.

  7. Off base liberty is standard during weekends, unless you are out in the field getting blasted in the azz.

Your best bet is to do your best to not look like a Marine when you’re near base. Locals usually don’t like Marines, because of a few retards that give us a negative stereotype. If you get stationed in California, you’ll be in for a good time. I’ve spent time in Camp Pendleton and 29 Palms in the Mojave desert…god awful place. 29 Palms is good for one reason…you can easily drive to LA, San Diego, Arizona annnnd….LAS VEGAS!

I had never been to California prior to joining the military. However, I’ve some ridiculously awesome times out there. Lots of cool people too. Yeah, you can have a car, play video games, and leave for the weekend. I’d wait until after your first deployment to get a car, unless you really want one.

If you get stationed in California, head to Newport Beach and get laid. Don’t go to Oceanside.
