how can i install a car video security system?

my car has been broken in twice in the parking lot at my apartment. I want to install a car video security system and catch whoever’s doing it. Has anyone done his before? I want to use a few spy camera (pinhole) and something like this: http://www.supercircuits.com/Digital-Video-Recorders/Mobile-DVRs/MDVR25.

my biggest question is: if i connect a 12v unit to my car battery, will it drain it by the end of the night?

Do not leave valuables in the car EVER and get a new battery as if a camera runs it down over night then it is not very good.

Remember if you fit the camera in the car and it is seen the car will be ripped apart to get it out and destroy the evidence.

You would be better getting a good alarm fitted with an additional siren on the inside so anyone that does get in will not stop for long.

Sounds like someone has a grudge against you in all honesty or your leaving things on show.

  1. The camera won’t. They draw so little current. The $119 unit draws 150 ma. It looks like it could be a good unit. You can set it so that it only records when someone is in the field of view. Bolt it inside your trunk or other hidden spot. Read their PDF file on the item.

If you get this item, I’m very interested in how it works for you.

  3. that will not provide a solution to your problem, it will just entertain you and be a waste of money, An insurance policy is the best way to protect yourself. It’s sad that you have this problem in your own residence. Either don’t have items in your vehicle when it’s parked where you live and can’t prevent it or garage it. I leave my car unlocked with the keys in the ignition usually and have no problem.
