can you use a universal remote for car dvd players?

I have a Performance Teknique DVD player in my car and the remote it came with is broken. Can you use a universal remote to program to work? I am having a hard time finding a replacement

not that I know of, most universal remotes hold programming codes for home electronics only. If you mange to find a universal remote that claims it does car audio too, then you should be able to find out the makes and models it will work for.

I’m afraid you can not do it like that. Or the remote from the same factory will be ok.
