Are there car DVD players with GPS available?

My boyfriend wants both so I was hoping to get both in one so he doesn’t have to have two seperate units in his car? If so, what are good brands?

There are many GPS units that are also a DVD player, or I should say, there are many in-dash DVD players that have GPS functionality. Be careful though, because in this case the result is truly greater than the sum of its parts, but in price! You could find a dvd player for relatively cheap, and standalone GVS units are becoming very inexpensive these days: ~$200 for a decent unit. So be sure to not only look at your options for dual DVD/GPS, but also look at them separately to see if it’s worth putting up with two units to save a lot of money.

That said, here are a couple good units.

Sanyo NV-E7000

These two just sort of caught my eye as having reasonable features for a very good price. However you will have to look at more units and weigh what features are important to you versus how much you want to spend.

  2. A good model to buy is the Kenwood DNX7100 DVD navigation receiver. It’s rated quite highly by actual users of the unit. There are also Pioneer units available that are rated quite highly. The main complaint from users seems to be difficulty navigating through the various menus available on these units.

    These DVD/GPS units also do not come cheap! The Kenwood mentioned above is available on amazon.com for a bit over $900. One of the Pioneer models I looked at was almost $2000!

    Another option is the Sanyo NV-E7000 Portable GPS and Mobile DVD Entertainment System. This actually looks like a great idea to me! The unit is not an in-dash unit, enabling you to use the navigation features on a trip, then take it with you when you leave the car, so you can watch DVD’s wherever you are. The Sanyo costs about $800.

    I just installed the Kenwood DNX-5160. Its not the most exspensive nisest one but gets the job done. I love it. I got a 6.1" screen with navigation by garmin. Best 735 dollars i spent on my car. Ordered it from http://www.audiosavings.com Came in the very next day too. Hope this helps. Rember you always get what you pay for and im satisfyed spending 735 dollars for a headunit for a car..
