Where can i learn about car audio online?

I want to upgrade my sounds on my new car but know absolutely nothing about it. Where can I learn about the physics about car audio so I can make a good choice on what to buy?

whatever you do make sure that the sites you are looking at is fact based not opinion based, www.bcae1.com is probably your best place to start. It gives you all the start up knowledge you need to know.

For questions I would say either post them on www.the12volt.com or here. Most sites are very opinionated about certain products and don’t like them just because they aren’t the users preferred brands.

But no matter where you go this always remains the same. Don’t buy audiobahn, sony, pyle, lanser, boss, kole, or any other low end brand because it is a waste of money and you will be replacing soon after you buy it because it is crap

Good Luck

I went through the same thing 6 months ago. It was a pain in the butt. There’s very little information available, but http://www.crutchfield.com is a good site. Crutchfield info tends to be general until you order what you need for your own car. It will have fit information and general stuff.

More specific stuff that will help you with your own car and not cost alot is most likely to be found on website message boards for your model of car. I mean, don’t look on a sound site. Look at the car site, then look within the web site for sound info. For example, I’d go to supras.com then, do a search for audio.

Good luck. You have my sympathy. This will be a good learning experience for you.

http://www.mtx.com has a pretty good informational section on their site.

http://www.bcae1.com is probably the best one out there.

If you want to be able to post questions to -VERY- knowledgable car-audio gurus then head on over to http://www.the12volt.com, become a member (free) and let the learning ensue.

BTW, car sites like supras.com know mainly about CARS! That is not anywhere to start. You’ll get about as bad advice there that you will here. There are only a small handful of people on Yahoo!Answers that are worth listening to.

    Good Luck!

crutchfield is good. u can also find out anything on here. find out your speaker size or let us know what kind of car u have and we can tell u. another good thing to do is go to a car audio shop. they can show u what fits ur car and give u an idea then u can shop online for better prices. i love how people bash audiobahn like its so bad but ive had a few speakers from them and they were some of the best ive had
