What is the cross-over dial on a car amplifier used for?
I want to understand the amplifier which is powering my 12" sub-woofers in my car. What does the cross-over dial do and how does it effect sound in comparison with the gain switch?
cross over chooses what frequencies it will allow to be sent to the sub, it most likely has a switch to make it a ‘low frequency cut off’ or ‘high frequency cut off’ you select the latter, this will make it so the sub isn’t trying to producer high frequencies, set it around 80hz or less, play around and see what you decide.
the gain switch is sort of like a volume control.
